Whack Flava are Darren & Jason Carlson, jackin house and bouncy head bopping electro DJ/Producers from Port Elizabeth South Africa. Although starting out listening to Rock & Metal, It was during their younger years growing up in the United Kingdom that they were introduced to the house scene and soon became obsessed with the eccentric styles and sounds, and thus decided to pair up in early June 2008.

Although they haven’t been producing for very long, Whack Flava have already mustered up a no. 1 on trackitdown.net in early February 2010, with the release of their second EP ”GOT DUMB” on Nu Style Records.

‘Get Down’ the no. 1 smash hit off the EP was also been featured on Kidda’s trackitdown top 10 for January 2010 and then later on Swen Webber’s top 10 for March.

Their first releases Cat Dance, Voodoo Jack and Drop To This were all signed to Da’m Good Recordings and released on July 8th 2009. The first of the three Cat Dance featured on trackitdown.net and hit the Top 100 House Chart at number 22. With support from all over the world, it finally got to its highest entry at number 5. Remixes support soon followed from The Wobble Skankz and Frank-e.

Whack Flava were also featured by The Wobble Skankz on their Weekly slot on Canadian radio station vodaradio.com.

They always bring freshness and unique ideas to the drawing board, and are going from strength to strength. With their sound keeping labels interested and the support from Top named fellow DJ/Producers to fuel them, Whack Flava is surely set for bigger things in the near future.

Messing around on a friends DJ equipment four years ago, he fell in love. And that is where the story of Cape Towns DJ/producer Sean Taylor began. Tech, Electro and Jacking. He has already had the privelege of playing with top names in the industry such as Ryan Murgatroyd, Pascal and Pearce, Nick Supply, Dean Fuel, Dylan Holshausen and Little Bastard (UK). When he’s not in studio? Outdoor events are his vibe, to get away and listen to some awesome music in the middle of nowhere. When asked who his favourite DJs are, “Hijack and Riva Starr are two of my favorite international producers at the moment.”

Jaco aka DarkBeatz is a Cape Town Producer andDj, whos first love for music came from his early B boy days. As breakdancing goes hand in hand with hiphop music, his love for Djing soon followed. His love for house music was always there and the genre which grab his attention the most, was Latino house music as it was bouncy and had a nice energy to it, He then went to the Uk for about 3 years and while in the UK, producing started, bought a laptop and his first real scratch cdjs, in his spare time he played around withFl studioand also self tought the art of hiphop scratching.
There is no specific genre when it comes to his producing music and djing, but Dutch Tech House is where his love is. To test whether his tracks were good enough for a record deal, he got some Cape town djs to them, after that tried a few record labels but no luck, eventually gave Flexual Records , which owned by Mark Stent,(WORLDS STRONGEST DJ) a demo an got a deal after finishing the WONK – LETS AVE IT remix. Some of his releases can also found on Beatport.com

He also featured on Cape Town’s radio station Goodhopefm The 411, which is hosted by Tyrone Paulsen, where he showed that he is also a forced to be reckon with in the Dj side of things, but Flexual Records is now his home and you can be sure to see some banging releases from Darkbeatz in the near future.

Norwegian producer, Aniki, has been involved with music since he can remember. He initially entered into the world of production as a fresh faced 13 year old.

In the past he has tried his hand at a variety of genres, from gabber to breaks, even to the extent of programming some hard rock. Aniki eventually settled on the hard house sound in 2000. His first hard house track was made using the production software ‘Mad Tracker’ and subsequently landed 5 releases on UK based label ‘Shock Records’. In 2004 he collaborated with Kelevra, previously known as Digital Kid, and released tunes on Riggsy’s Xtension label.

Unsurprisingly, Aniki’s musical preferences matured and became more sought after over time; evoking comparable thoughts to a nice bottle of penfolds grange (shit-expensive red wine!). He experimented with more of a techno sound and released various tracks on minor labels. It was not until he listened to Kelevras ‘KrunKd Up’ mixtape, that Aniki was introduced to the jackin’ electro scene. He instantly fell in love with the genre due to its expansive and seemingly endless possibilities, which resulted in far greater creative freedom and enabled him to do what he wanted to do with his tracks, instead of conforming to a specific genre. The resulting track was ‘Heavy Sound’. This fresh track attained support from some of the scenes biggest players, Lee Mortimer, Kelevra and Mixin’ Marc, which lead to a deal with Movement Music.

Aniki’s undeniably extensive and meticulous production skills come from years of experience on the job together with his scrupulous ear for detail. His unique productions are constructed on gut wrenching bass lines combined with big-room climaxes and dynamics, paired skilfully together with catchy and unique vocal, which ensures all his tracks are brimming with a level of tension and high energy.
Don’t worry fans, no need to call a doctor! Aniki hasn’t suddenly developed a multi personality disorder; he’s just releasing some different sounding material under several new personas. At current Aniki has two side projects occupying his already busy schedule. The first under the alias of Bling Fingah, with his younger brother, and a second techier sounding project under the pseudonym, Slick N Juicy. He is currently in the process of establishing his own digital label called Mooo Recordings. The label will focus on wide range styles encompassing the electronic genre, with a Norwegina heritage concept.

Aniki ecently had his biggest release yet, on US label OMG! Recordings, as both originals hit the Beatport top 10 in both Electro House and Indie Dance/Nu Disco. “Lesbian Bondage Fiasco” has been in the top 10 spot for over 2 months.

Shaun Fiddle aka Shaun Lottering originates from East London, South Africa and was raised in Benoni. He has always had a passion for music since a young age and used to spend all his free time producing hip hop beats for friends, at 14 he feel in love with house music and eventually worked his way up to mixing with the Worlds Strongest Dj Mark Stent, It was then that Shaun went on the path of house music production through Mark’s advice.

In early 2009 Shaun met up with now friend and mentor Dylan Holshausen the two shared similar passions and drive’s for music and it was not long until Dylan offered him a spot in the production duo, Wobbly Sluts.

As a solo artist Shaun has received support from the likes of Flatland Funk, Eats Everything, Mark Stent, The Incredible Melting Man, Dylan Holshausen, Jason Score, Little Bastard, Jaksaw, Kerrie Nation and the list continues to grow. Shaun is also regularly featured on CHRW FM’s Phresh Radio One Show hosted by Todd Page.

He now also work’s with Dylan on Big Poppa Records which focuses on bringing some of the best Electro House from around the globe, signing some of the heavy weight producers in the industry.

His style of music is not specific, whatever comes to mind he manages to put down in his tracks. His drive for house music is far from over and this is just the beginning for him doing what he loves in life.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

Keva started his DJ/PRODUCTION career in 1997 playing off pc software and making beats with programs such as REBIRTH & ACID never knowing how far it would one day take him. He began playing where ever he could birthdays, house parties, school discos and for friends 1998-2000. For a while after that Keva’s DJ career took the slow lane but his passion kept him pushing to one day get the chance to show his talent. Keva attended multiple SOUND ENGINEERING course’s expanding his knowledge to not just DJing but to the understanding of SOUND itself. Once again showing his passion for great sounding music, Keva spent a total of 5years learning all he could about SOUND. He also traveled to England where he played in some of London’s smaller clubs for 6months, he then returned to S.A only for his DJing to take yet another slow lane. Due to the fact he had not yet owned his own equipment to practice off & get a feel for club standard equipment. Keva kept his mixing skills fresh by mixing from DSTV’s DMX music channels into his dj software program (PCDJ). Finally his dream took a BIG step in the right direction and he received his first pair or Stanton T60 turntables. “A STAR IS BORN” from that day Keva has moved forward and hasn’t looked back since, going on to play at S.A’s top clubs such as Aruba Lounge, Kitchen Bar, Tempo, Funky House, Newscafé, Capellos, Voodoo Lounge, FTV, Primi, Vacca Matta, Legends, Black Orchard, Tanza night, Groove Bar, Spring Break (Jozi), Mala Bar, Escabar, Roxy’s, Honey, Carona Café, Stone’s and many more.

His astounding level of flexibility and crowd appeal has earned him both positive acclaim and recognition throughout the competitive nightclub industry. He has also played on various radio stations such as 5fm, Derek the Bandits Sound Republic & Dance Web Radio. Due to Keva’s talent in all areas he was snatched up by Dance Web Radio, allowing him to host his own show every Monday (10h00 – 12h00) called “Phunk Frequency” which is broadcast all over the world. He has played for crowds all over Johannesburg & Midrand, he has performed with well-known house DJ’s like McMurdo, Lazy G, Vimo, Roger D’lux, Ricardo Da Costa, Dj Sbu, Beatarmy, Louie Virgo, Heath, Paul Bingham, Dj Thalia, Guy Herman, Stuart Hilary, DJ Shawny B, Lil Al, Zak, Ru, Mr. Ice, Rawkus, Naughty Pants, Feeboy (Ace Squad), Mushy, Adas (Uk), Javas (Kenya), Steph, Rob Toca, Daniel Sun, Miss Red, Dark Temptation, Shooting Stars & Candybars, Bart Marley, Cecil Mac, C Smooth, Dj Rene Theron, Bee Kandi, James G & others.

He has also helped many djs and producers further their career like Lazy G(Production), Toast(Production), Nick(Production), Lucian(Production), Sean Sloan(Engineering), Dj Caps(Mozambique) Zulu(Kimberley) Dj Ryan, Dj King, Kate, 2Deep, Toast, Big Smile & Feeboy who has come close to winning numerous Dj Comp’s. As far as his DJing goes Keva is making a name for himself but it doesn’t stop there. Keva’s production has taken off in a big way compiling many bootlegs that have played on 5fm as well as creating Dj intro’s for big names like the Beatarmy for their set at H2O (The All White Affair) not to mention his biggest achievement ,signing a record deal with S.A’s top label Flexual Records. Keva’s talents were discovered by one of S.A’s heavyweight Djs “Mark Stent”. Keva is releasing not just one track for his first release but an unbelievable five pack EP titled “FOOT SLAPPA EP” through Flexual Records. Mark Stent is so sure that he has found a diamond in the industry, the release of Keva’s EP has been pushed above other releases. Keva’s track “You Gonna Get” is causing such a stir being played at huge events like Wet n Wild, H20, 5fm and is being compiled into Mark Stents new album “MARKTRONIC”. The EP release’s in November. Not only has Keva Preformed with the biggest Djs in S.A but he has also worked in Studio with various band like Eye’s Like Mirrors, Magic Carpet Ride, Scissor Sista’s, Bloody Sunday (Uk) and up & coming singers like Nats & Surge. Keva has shown that he will leave a mark on all areas of the industry.

MUSICAL STYLES

Although KevaDj can play virtually any style of music, he typically prefers playing anything with a Jackin vibe (House). Other musical styles in his repertoire include Drum N Bass, Dubstep, Old School Funk, Garage, Commercial House and Old School Soul. He currently maintains an extensive catalogue of the newest releases providing him a fresh unique style of music from which to choose.
When KevaDj was asked in a recent interview what music he plays, he replied.
“I only play music that makes you get down; if you can sit still during the song it’s not worth playing”

Dylan Holshausen (Dylan H) originates from -Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa-. Growing up attracted to every aspect of dance music, he moved towards making it. In the early stages of his life he produced a couple of songs on EJay and slowly drifted away from production until early 2008 when he met the (World’s Strongest DJ) – Mark Stent and produced a song which was selected to be Mark’s new label “Flexual Record’s” second release. Ever since then Dylan has been studying better producing packages and has been creating music ever since.

With no specific genre in mind Dylan make’s music with a mixture of elements all packed together, using mostly funkiness, electro and fidget as his main inspiration. Dylan is creating music with a strange addictive sound. Dylan’s productions have featured in various websites top 100 charts. Dylan has been signed to and remix for various labels around the globe.

Around mid 2008 Dylan became a partner of “Flexual Records”, and together Mark and Dylan brought the best of the worlds already known and undiscovered artist’s music to the public’s ear. Already “Flexual” Records have achieved various top chart spots across various websites and have started out with a bang in the industry.

In the later parts of 2008 Dylan taught himself the art of DJ’ing and now plays sets that contain filthy, dirty and straight down right sexy tunes. Playing a lot of his own production work, Dylan leaves the crowds begging for more with his distinctive and truly natural sound. Already Dylan has played alongside the likes of: Guy Herman, Ricco Dex, Mark Stent, Stylus B, Kyle Watson, Seebz, Dre Dubz, G-No, Lady Lea, U1, GhettoSmack and Gregory K. At venues such as News Cafe, Stones (Centurion) and Tryst (Knysna).

In 2008 Dylan met Brett Potgieter (Stylus B), and they decided to form a duo. They called themselves the Fidget Thugs. Even while focusing on their individual careers the Fidget Thugs projects were rewarded with Great Success, most of their productions were featured in Stompy’s Top-100 Electro Chart, with one of their productions “Candy’s Needle” obtaining and maintaining the number one spot for a few weeks on the very same chart. DJ’ing together the Fidget Thugs obtained a residency at the “In Deep & Decked Out” party held monthly at Stones Centurion after only playing a few gigs.

Dylan has had various sets aired on CHRW 94.9 in Canada, on The Phresh Radio One Show and has also received support from the blog “Fridge Jet”, Dylan has already caught the attention of a few of the worlds greats such as: Eddie Zanetti (Bombermen), Ill Phil and WoNK.

In mid 2009 Dylan had a plan to form a new duo, he started off by himself and called the Duo “Wobbly Sluts” and the first production which was a bootleg of “Bonkers” did extremely well across the globe. Searching for a second member he stumbled across Shaun “Fiddle” Lottering on facebook. When the two met and realised that their passions and a strong bond was created Dylan offered Shaun a spot in the Duo. “Wobbly Sluts” promise to be an energetic force with two great passionate people behind the name, you can expect big things from them!

In late 2009 Dylan decided to use all his passion and energy and put it into a brand/label of his own, he spread his wings and left “Flexual Records” to start his own record label “Big Poppa Records”. His label has already been the talk on a lot of peoples lips, with great artists signed in the genres of Electro/Tech/Fidget. In 2010 “Big Poppa Records” first release went out onto Beatport and received great support. This is definitely a label to look out for.

Dylan has many new ideas to pursue while still playing gigs and creating great productions. You can expect great things from this talented young individual.

Feedback from Other Artists: “Dylan is the HOTTEST up-and-coming producer in the fidget scene, his stuff is SHIT-hot…Awesome awesome guy too…Big up my bro!” ~ Mark Stent (Half Owner of Flexual Records)

“Dylan is definitely one of the more forward-thinking artists in the fidget/wobbly scene coming out of South Africa. Already a strong influence in his home country, I don’t think it will be too long before more international credits start shooting his way” ~ Kyle Watson

“Your tunes are always packin the right amount of bounce.. Big tings!” ~ Jon-E Industry

“Dylan H is a modern day master of the wobbly bassline. In my opinion his sound is unmatched in sonics and hugeness & Champion Beats was proud to be a part of his beginnings. Expect more big tings from this lad!” ~ The Incredible Melting Man-owner of Champion Beats

“Combine 2 cups of wobble with 4 tablespoons of jackin’ beats than add a pinch of the filthiest bass (feel free to add more than a pinch if you dont mind it getting too dirty…) and that = Dylan H” ~ Kerrie Nation

Well i like it! some sounds in there that the fidget scene is not used to hearing out.. when the world put me down & right mon are real tight!.. i look forward to hearing more from you. ~ Frederik Mooij
